A New Job Starts at the Libraries in Singerei

As many of us know, finding a job can be a lonely pursuit. One can spend hours searching for a job and fine-tuning the resume in order to improve it and then preparing for interviews or follow-up communication. If you ever wondered whether there is someone who can help you with this process, then you should most surely check out YOUR LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARY!

On August 12, 2016, the Public Library from Singerei started the replication process of its new library service “A Chance for Employment by means of IT,” which aims to guide librarians in helping and assisting library users to find a job. Participants from 10 rural libraries from the Novateca network attended training sessions organized by the leader-library together with representatives from the Employment Agency, who informed them of the overall unemployment status in the raion and explained the general concepts of the Law on Employment and Social Protection for job seekers. The knowledge and skills of this successful library service was shared with the public libraries from Coscodeni, Chiscareni, Cubolta, Mindrestii Noi, Radoaia, Pepeni, Balasesti, Sloveanca, Iezarenii Vechi and Biruinta villages, which will further replicate the service within their communities.

The experts from the Employment Agency informed participants about the services they provide for jobseekers and the websites they can access in order to receive more information on employment opportunities, such as www.anofm.md, www.e-angajare.md, www.angajat.md and www.jobmarchet.md.

During the sessions, librarians received training on how to write a CV and a cover letter, and how to prepare for a job interview. Finally and importantly, librarians became familiar with the methods and techniques used when searching for a job, and received leaflets about employment opportunities.

As a follow up to this event, the librarians trained will replicate the new library service in their own libraries and offer ongoing support and training for jobseekers in their villages and towns.

Novateca launched the Library Service Replication Fund in late April. So far, five new library services have been replicated by Novateca libraries, and other three new services will begin the replication process, starting in September.
