Exchange of experience in Gura Bîcului: the media and the art of photography

On Friday, November 25, an exchange between students from the villages of Mereni, Roşcani and Gura Bîcului was organized. The event initiated by a librarian Svetlana Palii, together with a group of students passionate about journalism, took place at the House of Culture in Gura Bîcului.

During the event, participants organized a photo exhibition of scenic places and village citizens. The Gura Bîcului School Library representatives shared their media experience gained during The Strengthening Independent Media and Media Literacy Program run by IREX Europe. Also, during the event participants discussed developing and strengthening partnerships to promote media literacy.

Representatives of IREX Europe, including Vice President Flora Graioni, Daniela Galai, Viorica Palamarciuc, representatives of the "Nicolae Dumitrescu" Academy Peter-Vlad Ianusevici and Sebastian Römischer, Teleradio Moldova reporter, Tatiana Balan and the editor-in-chief of the Anenii Noi "Adevarul" newspaper, Octavian Zelinschi attended the event.

The media education team of the Gura Bîcului School library shared success stories with colleagues from neighboring villages and discussed the importance of verifying news sources.

„When I realized that information presented on the Odnoklassniki social network is not reliable, I gave up on using it,” Iuliana Şipitca confessed.

Trainings in media education have awakened the civic spirit among the participants and motivated them to participate actively in community life. Thus, Ion Plămădeală participated in a project expecting to receive funding to repair gazebos on the kindergarten territory.

The event participants shared their experience in projects such as Media Lab and the Media Centre for Youth and impressions on using a photo camera. The event ended with the launch of a photography exhibition and an interactive evaluation of the event.
