The Academy of Young Librarians helping library development

The Librarians Association of Moldova has created a new subdivision – the Academy of Young Librarians – which aims to support the work of young librarians and their involvement in various projects and initiatives. The Academy has 19 librarians who are eager to promote the image of the country’s libraries and create a large number of services useful for communities in Moldova.

At the Follow-up workshop conducted during December 20-22, successes and challenges faced by the libraries during the modernizing process, as well as practices learned during the Summer School for Young Librarians and the study visit to Romania were discussed. Svetlana Gumenîi from the ‘Adam Mickiewicz’ branch of the Chisinau Municipal Library was elected the president of the Academy of Young Librarians.

During the event, the main directions of cooperation with Library Association of Moldova (LAM) were established, including attracting new members and providing various professional development opportunities for the existing ones.
