Moldovan Public Libraries to become EU Information Centers

We are excited to announce that eight public raion libraries were selected to become EU Information Centers as part of a pilot project launched by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, implemented by BDR Associates Moldova in partnership with the Novateca program. The raion EU Information Centers will be placed in the following libraries:

  • Chisinau Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”
  • Telenesti Public Raion Library “Vasile Alecsandri”
  • Ialoveni “Petre Stefanuca”
  • Cahul Public Raion Library “Andrei Ciurunga”
  • Straseni Public Raion Library “M. Sadoveanu”
  • Orhei Public Raion Library “A. Donici”
  • Hancesti Public Raion Library “A. Plamadeala”
  • Rascani Public Town Library

The selected libraries will have access to all digital resources of the European Union and the Information Center coordinator will benefit from a free user account to access the digital library of the European Union - EU Bookshop.

Through this partnership, library users can obtain any information from the EU online bookshop, a library and archive of publications dating back to 1952, containing over 110,000 titles and 235,000 corresponding electronic versions (PDFs, e-books) in more than 50 languages, including Romanian.

This collaboration is a further contribution to the modernization of public libraries in Moldova, and highlights the contribution that partnerships with public libraries can help organizations of all types reach more citizens with valuable information and services.
