Media Literacy Online Course at the Public Libraries

In today’s digital era, consumers have access to a lot more opportunities and educational resources, including specialized online courses. It is up to the interested person to find the necessary motivation to enroll in these courses and get a certification.

The Academy of Innovation and Change through Education (AICE) in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and U.S. Department of State has recently launched the “English Language for Media Education” project, a free online course offered by the experts form Pennsylvania University. These courses offered a great opportunity for participants to improve their English skills and to explore different types of media such as television, blogs, social networks, etc.

As Moldovan public libraries offer valuable resources in terms of space and modern technologies, AICE has established strong partnerships with the Raion Public Libraries from Orhei, Anenii Noi, Cantemir and Chisinau. The libraries were great hosts for the groups of 15 participants enrolled in the “English Language for Media Education” online courses and offered their support and resources to hold the courses twice a week, during 5 weeks.

Due to the modernization of public libraries and their transformation into multifunctional centers, as well as the establishment of sustainable partnerships, Moldovan libraries can now offer users free access to information and long-distance trainings, and contribute to the development of local communities.
