6 more Public Libraries Trained to Join the Moldovan Lego Robotics Network

On June 29-30, 12 library representatives selected to benefit from the Robotics Clubs initiative, launched by Novateca in early May 2017, have participated at the Training of Trainers in Lego Robotics and explored the many opportunities they offer.

During the training, participants from the National Children's Library "Ion Creanga" and the public libraries from Ialoveni, Cricova, Galesti, Molovata Noua and Riscova got familiar with the basics of building, programming and teaching the Lego Robotics and learned how this library service can boost children's problem-solving skills, teamwork, creativity, and technical knowledge in an engaging, collaborative way.

“We are ready to catch up with other libraries and schools that have benefited from robotics kits ahead of us and to participate along them in various robotics competitions. This modern service will gain great popularity among our community members,” mentioned library director from Cricova Public Library.

The libraries selected to benefit from robotics kits equipment and accessories have met all the selection criteria including space availability, a $200 cost share to support the procurement of mission tables, surveys conducted among community members and support from local public authorities.

“Everyone in our community is excited to attend the Robo Club sessions and are waiting for the equipment to be delivered at the library. We already have a list of participants eager to join our robotics club,” affirmed Olesea Bunica, librarian at the Galesti Public Library.

By the end of the training, all library representatives were able to complete at least one simple mission from the Lego Official Missions.

The selected libraries will receive the robotics equipment by July 15 and will set up robotics clubs in order to introduce robotics to community members.
