On March 25, 2014, Novateca and the Ministry of Health reiterated their commitment to developing a mutually beneficial partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of facilitating the access to ICT professional development to healthcare staff.
Under the Memorandum, the partners will work collaboratively to provide family doctors and medical staff with access to online information and technology, within public libraries, as well as to provide communities with healthy life style information and promoting Minister of Health informational campaigns, in the framework of the National e-Health Strategy.
The officials present at the ceremony, the Minister of Health Andrei Usatii, Deputy Minister of Health Svetlana Cotelea, and Novateca Program Director Evan Tracz, underscored ways in which local communities, libraries and the healthcare system will benefit from the collaboration.
The parties agreed to develop a diverse range of services and training opportunities for librarians, medical personnel, and citizens. The parties agreed to support libraries in providing community members with information on healthy lifestyles. The Ministry of Health representatives demonstrated an understanding of the BMGF activities in various fields, welcomed the Global Libraries initiative to Moldova, and expressed their gratitude for the program’s contribution to Moldova’s public health development.
