85% of users visit the library at least once a week to use the computer and the Internet
In April, the Novateca program conducted an online survey among the users of public libraries included in the Novateca network, in order to identify the purpose of Internet usage in public libraries and what new library services can be created. Also, the survey aims to identify new emerging trends, as well as to provide a detailed picture of the users' interest in the libraries of the Novateca network.
The survey was conducted via Novateca computers, through pop-up windows. The survey results are presented below, in the form of an infographic, which provides information at the national level. The information presented in this infographic can be useful for librarians in their relationship with the local authorities and other local partners, in order to gain their support and additional funding.
The survey results highlight very important conclusions, which underline once again the importance of a modern library in any community from Moldova. According to the survey the majority of users (85%) said they visit the library at least once a week to use the Internet for personal or business needs, and 66% of the respondents said they asked for help from the librarian to access the information online.
The survey also highlights the fact that 43% of the respondents visit the library both to communicate via social networks and Skype, and to search for information in the fields of agriculture, education, health, business and government services. The Novateca program invites librarians to analyze in detail the information from this infographic and to use it when communicating with various community groups and partners. Also, librarians can use this information to create new library services that meet the modern information needs of the users.
