Lyon Declaration on Access to Information and Development launched

We are proud to announce that in Lyon, France was signed the Declaration on Access to Information and Development, initiated by International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Declaration launched at the World Library and Information Congress in Lyon, France signed by more than 125 organisations aims to positively influence the United Nations post-2015 development agenda.

Access to information, and libraries, play a critical role in supporting development. To advance this position, IFLA has launched on 18th August 2014, the Lyon Declaration on Access to Information and Development outlining the need for access to information to be recognised in the United Nations post-2015 development framework.

The Declaration, together with further analysis and research of the post-2015 framework and capacity building will give IFLA members and libraries the tools to advocate for the inclusion of access to information in the final goals, and to be ready to support national governments in implementation of the framework.

The Library Association of Moldova was among the signatories of the Lyon Declaration.
