IREX Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Culture has the pleasure to let you know that the selection process for public libraries in the Novateca network is currently open. The selected libraries will be equipped with computers, librarians will benefit from various training in IT, and new library services tailored to the local needs.

The new selection round will significantly expand the Novateca network to offer an opportunity to transform libraries into vibrant community centers offering computer and internet access, as well as services that improve the lives of Moldovan citizens.

As a key partner of the Novateca program, the Ministry of Culture encourages libraries to apply and send their applications online. Recognizing the minimum requirements for inclusion in the Novateca network, the Ministry encourages all localities to begin to make the necessary improvements to public library infrastructure as soon as possible. This will enable a fast and efficient selection process, and ensure that no libraries are left out.

The application package consisting of the raion library application form together with the applications of 10 -15 local libraries, should be submitted on-line, on aplicare.novateca.md page by December 1, 2014.

Novateca has developed a guide with instructions and recommendations for completion of application document. The selection criteria are described in the guide, with a focus on supporting local authorities in renovating libraries, providing Internet connection and cover other related costs. The finalist raions will be selected based on evaluations conducted by an independent selection committee, as well as verification visits to applicant libraries.
