Information sessions in Chișinău, Bălți and Cahul

Novateca program organized a range of information sessions on 2, 9 and 16 July for libraries from the municipality of Chisinău and raions Bălți and Cahul, focusing on the process of modernizing new libraries selected for acceding to the Novateca network in 2015.

These sessions aimed at informing the librarians and representatives of the local and regional administrative authorities of both the process of equipping the selected libraries with modern technologies, as well as of the trainings and professional development opportunities that the program offers the librarians.

Over 300 librarians, mayors and officers from the raion culture units came together to discuss how they will cooperate within Novateca program and how they will facilitate public access to online information.

During the meetings, the participants were split into groups and were invited to participate in various mini-sessions, where they addressed issues related to preparing and equipping the libraries, training regional trainers and rural librarians in IT, cooperating with local authorities and engaging in the monthly statistic reporting.

The participants also had the opportunity to watch videos which featured the most successful libraries in the network that brilliantly implement the concepts of a modern library and contribute to community development.

Starting with July 2015, Novateca will start delivering computers and training courses for librarians selected for a new round of acceding to the program. By the end of 2015, Novateca network will be formed of more than 750 modernized libraries, which is a solid step in transforming the system of public libraries throughout the country into a platform of active institutions that are fundamental for the development of the communities of Moldova.
