Moldovan and Swedish Library Leaders Share Modern Approaches to Libraries
The Swedish Embassy in Moldova and the Swedish Institute in partnership with the Novateca Program facilitated a visit of a group of library leaders to Stockholm, Sweden.
It is summertime at the library!
Libraries challenge everyone to spend time reading, learning, exploring, and energizing during summertime. Many libraries across the world get much busier in the hazy, crazy, hot months of summer. A big part of the reason are children. Naturally, most of the visitors come at the library for books and access to computer and the internet, but children also come for the many cultural programs, author lectures, art exhibits, game hours, the summer reading program and other special programs.
Public libraries to promote education and awareness for preventing child abuse
The Novateca Program and the National Center for Prevention of Child Abuse (NCPCA) have teamed up to increase awareness about child abuse prevention through the modernized public libraries in Moldova. While child abuse is a sensitive subject matter, public libraries are finding ways to reach out and provide safe, positive programs as well as connect children and teens with services they need.
Not the Same Old Story Time
Public libraries are not only a source of free access to computers and the internet, but also great sources of fun and education for children and their families. The National Children’s Public Library of Moldova (NCL) is learning how to update and modernize the traditional library storytelling services offered to children.
