It is our great honor and privilege to let you know on July 11th, Chris Elias, the President of the Global Development Program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation visited Moldova to better understand how public libraries impact the development of the communities, and how they positively contribute to addressing the development issues of community members.

In April, the Novateca program conducted an online survey among the users of public libraries included in the Novateca network, in order to identify the purpose of Internet usage in public libraries and what new library services can be created. Also, the survey aims to identify new emerging trends, as well as to provide a detailed picture of the users' interest in the libraries of the Novateca network.

Today the Ministry of Culture and the Novateca program announced the raions selected to join the Novateca network in the first round of its national phase. In this selection round, over 350 public libraries will be equipped with more than 1000 computers for ensuring public access to the internet, and up to 800 librarians will receive trainings in IT and the development of new library services.

The winner of the photo contest - Hâncești Raion Public Library A. Plămădeală – received its prize.

The lucky library, which was designated by the Novateca team as the winner of the photo contest “Children at the Library” received its prize today – a photo camera with built-in Wi-Fi capabilities, that posts photos in the social networks.
